The Miscellany of MD / DC

This post is a catch-all for random fond memories.  The distinctive red, white, black and yellow Maryland flag is EVERYWHERE--on license plates, on fast food place, even at the DMV. When Norm learned of its significance-- that it served as a symbol of unity for Union and Confederate Md. citizens after the Civil War-- we bought socks and ties for our grandsons with this design. We bought jewelry from the Natural History Museum for our granddaughters (which we think they will like better!) We loved the diversity of people in MD / DC, and we miss it now that we are home:

Sept 9, 2022-- I returned a can of hairspray to Walmart and these are the names of women working in customer service (I was in line awhile): Nazma, Puja, Sanju, Josefina, Shamshad.  Mostly immigrants from India or Pakistan.

First day at our apartment.

Elder and Sister Simmons helped us pack up when we said goodbye to Maryland / DC!

We visited Norm's cousin Rachel Esplin O'Dell in the DC 3rd Ward in February.

Our first temple visit after the dedication in August.

Three days after his baptism, we gave Alpha Eragy a ride to church. Awesome guy who works with Matic Industries.

One day we gave a ride home to sweet Anneliese Schulte of the singles ward. She's from Missouri and her dad is an artist.  She lived in this historic building in Poolesville.

The seniors' sailing trip on the Pawtuxent River.

At the Visitors Center.

ODD STREET NAMES!

In our office!

On a morning walk.

Our pond in the snow.

This vulture visited our dumpster at the office. At home, we watched a mamma vulture teach two large chicks to fly--they nested in a barn near us. Sadly, the city refurbished the barn and the vultures left.
